    Main ingredients and their effects

    Peptazine

    It is a hydralysed marine peptide with similar effects to benzodiazepine in the hypothalamic-pituitary axis with sympatoadrenal activity. It stimulates increased levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the hippocampus and hypothalamus, improving anxiety control and the learning process.

    L-Tryptophan

    It is a precursor to serotonin, a neurotransmitter whose function is to control behaviour and mood. Low levels of serotonin have been found to be directly associated with stress, depression and aggression.

    L-Theanin

    It increases levels of GABA neurotransmitters, which is key to controlling central nervous system responses, specifically those associated with fear and anxiety. It also helps increase serotonin and dopamine levels, which reduces norepinephrine levels.

    Vitamins B1, B3 and B6

    These vitamins contribute to neuronal health and good brain function, reducing agitation and improving concentration. They are an essential cofactor for the production and activity of several neurotransmitters, specifically vitamin B6 (Pyrodoxin) is very important for the conversion of 5-Hyrdoxytryptophan to serotonin.

    Dosage

    Recommended daily dose based on animal weight:

    < 5 kg: ½ tablet

    5-10 kg: 1 tablet

    10-25 kg: 2 tablets

    25-40 kg: 3 tablets

    40 kg: 4 Tablets

    Method of administration:


    May be mixed with feed or administered directly into the mouth.

    Short-term use/specific situations: Administer 1-2 hours before event, may repeat as needed.

    Long-term use / behavioral problems: Administer half dose. Dose may be adjusted according to effect.

      • Stressful Situations:Car trips, vet visits, coat grooming.
      • Behavioral Therapy: Animals that are consistently exposed to the above situations. The learning process is improved by a positive effect in dopamine and serotonin metabolism.

    Long term use of WeCalm® and behavioural problems:

    • Behavioural problems: Loss of elimination habits (faeces and urine in inappropriate places), marking, whining, tail catching.
    • Separation anxiety: Signs of property destruction, barking and howling, loss of appetite.
    • Reactions to other animals, people and objects: Signs of aggression towards other animals, people (mailman, strangers, etc.) and other objects.
