    What to look out for in a horse

    It is important to recognise the signs that may indicate the need for joint support. These include: the horse has difficulty moving on exertion (asymmetrical stride etc), hot joints after exertion, stiffness or difficulty in cold environments, stiffness on hard ground, cracking when moving the limbs.

    Do not hesitate to note these symptoms accurately and report them to your vet who will be able to advise and recommend the use of Harpagyl or Ekyflex Arthro EVO.

    Plan ahead

    In our veterinarians' experience, once a horse has experienced symptoms of stiffness a few times, it can be expected that they will recur. They are usually directly dependent on the intensity and duration of the exercise or on the external conditions (terrain, humidity, temperature).

    Prepare for these situations by adapting your horse's exercise conditions and also by giving him Harpagyl as a precautionary measure as soon as the first signs of stiffness appear to prevent them from getting worse. You should also seek advice from your vet.

    Quickly return to a smooth step

    Our vets always select ingredients for our supplements that have been verified by independent studies. They also ensure that the quality and concentration used are consistent with these studies. These high standards are particularly important for Harpagyl, as there are great differences between the different species of Harpagophyte. The quality of our ingredients allows the effects of Harpagyl to be seen from day 3 after application.

    Your horse's joint sensitivity may vary throughout the year. These changes depend on the intensity of the exercise, the hardness of the ground, the living conditions or training environment of the horse, and the outside temperature. The harpagosides in harpagophytum (devil's claw) are recognized as natural nutrients that help nourish the joints and make it easier for your horse to move.

    Harpagyl is much more than just a high concentration harpagophyte product, it also contains omega-3 fatty acids in plant form, which naturally complement the product and help your horse with joint support.

    For anti-doping testing purposes, it is recommended to discontinue harpagophyte-based products 48 hours prior to competition.

    Recommendations

    Thanks to the versatility of Harpagyl you can use it as a dietary supplement in many situations for temporary but also for longer lasting problems.

    However, if you do not know the cause of your horse's problems, it is essential that you consult your veterinarian.

    Main Ingredient

    Harpagophytum (Devil's claw): this wild plant is found exclusively in the semi-desert regions of southern Africa. The beneficial effects of harpagophytum on joint mobility are well known, both in humans and horses.

    Our veterinarians have developed very precise specifications of the type of ingredients that need to be provided to get the best out of harpagophytum. The extracts must come from the root and the harpagoside content must be high, as it often varies greatly from plant to plant. To guarantee these two elements, it is necessary to obtain titrated harpagophytes.

    In addition, AUDEVARD is committed to an environmentally responsible approach in view of the naturally limited resources available.

    Performance:

    Package 450g - sufficient for adult horses up to 30 days

    Package 900g - sufficient for adult horses up to 60 days.

    Package 4.5kg - sufficient for adult horses up to 300 days.

    Dosage. Harpagyl can be given continuously or for 1 to 2 months.

    Recommendations for users:

    Dietary supplement to improve movement in working or aging horses.

    For anti-doping testing purposes, it is recommended that harpagophytum-containing products be discontinued at least 48 hours prior to testing and competition.

    Is this product also suitable for pregnant mares?

    Harpagyl is not intended for pregnant mares, especially in the last three months of pregnancy. This is because harpagophyte is not medically recommended for pregnancy and we prefer to be more cautious. Although we do not have any studies to show any toxicity in equine medicine.

    Detailed ingredients:

    Harpagophytum procumbens, sugar beet molasses, lithothamnion, alfalfa (Medicago sativa), inactivated brewer's yeast, linseed, linseed oil. Analytical components: moisture < 10 %, crude protein 5 %, crude fibre 12 %, crude fat 1 %, crude ash 18 %, calcium 6 %, sodium 0,01 %.

    Your questions

    There are many different products on the market for horses containing harpagophyte. Which one should I choose for my horse?

    It is important to check the harpagophytum content of your chosen product to make sure it contains Harpagophytum procumbens (Devil's Claw). Titration (amount or concentration) of the target substance - harpagoside - is also essential. As this is a natural ingredient, the content may vary from plant to plant and it is the laboratory's responsibility to guarantee a minimum amount.

    I am deciding between Harpagyl and Ekyflex Arthro EVO, which should I choose?

    It all depends on your horse's situation and your expectations. Harpagyl can be used temporarily for a quick effect on joint flexibility and smoothness, while Ekyflex Artho EVO, in addition to its immediate effect on flexibility, will also support long-term joint health by nourishing cartilage.

    In particularly challenging times, both products are fully compatible with each other. Therefore, do not hesitate to seek advice from your veterinarian.

    Can I use Harpagyl for my horse during the competition season?

    You may use Harpagyl during the competition season as long as you discontinue administration no later than 48 hours prior to the competition event. If you want a product that you can give your horse around the clock during the competition season, prefer a product that does not contain any doping agents, such as Ekyflex Nodolox.

    Your veterinarian may also recommend alternating between the two products.

    Besides giving Harpagyl, what else can I do to help my horse move better?

    Due to the versatility of the product, you canuse it as an occasional support for your horse. If you don't know what is causing your horse's problems, we recommend you consult your vet to make sure you give your horse the right care, at the right time.

    We also recommend adapting exercise, appropriate stabling and in winter, for example, the use of waterproof horse blankets to ensure your horse is not exposed to cold and wet weather.

    I am very satisfied with Audevard products. I have two horses and administer Harpagyl and Nodolox. I administer Harpagyl to an 11-year-old gelding who competed up to ST-T level in dressage and is now actively retired. I chose Harpagyl for him because of the high content of devil's claw extract, which has been shown in studies to have an anti-inflammatory effect and helps my horse to have better mobility and stiffness. I think its effect slows down the degenerative changes that have already been detected at his age, albeit in a mild form. I want to give him all the service and care I can to ensure a comfortable retirement and nutritional support is definitely one of those things.     I use Audevard Harpagyl on an older mare who has had a torn interosseous muscle in the past and always see improvement. I give 2 months and then a month off. The mare stops relieving her so often sore leg when taking, and is also generally more comfortable and softer under saddle. She only goes a few times a month now, just to keep her condition up, but even then it's always nice to see when she's taking Harpagyl and when she's not.

    We have been using your products for a short time. We are using only Harpagyl and I have to say that the mare really likes it and moves much better.     Moc jsem tomu nevěřila, ale nadherně to rozchodilo 17 letého koníka po schvácení a 26 letého poníka se silnou artrózou...no, co má Harpagyl, tak nějak zapomněl, že je dědeček????. Za mě super a až neuvěřitelné....škoda, že jsem tento doplněk neznala dřív, koupila jsem už druhé balení a koupím zas. Harpagyl je lepší, než všechno ostatní co jsem na problémy s artrózou vyzkoušela a kůň, který se schvátil, kvůli krmičům se do týdne krásně rozchodil. Nemůžu jinak, než poděkovat jeho výrobcům????, děkuji, jste skvělí ❤️
